The Strong National Museum of Play has revealed the Video Game Hall of Fame class of 2022. This year's quartet of honorees are Ms. The finalists that just missed out on a spot this time are Assassin's Creed, Candy Crush Saga, Minesweeper, NBA Jam, PaRappa the Rapper, Resident Evil, Rogue and Words with Friends. All of those are classics in their own way, but it's hard to argue with any of the four picks. Ocarina of Time made it into the Hall of Fame as a first-time nominee.
'Mortal Kombat,' and 'Super Mario Kart' are 2019 Video Game Hall of Fame inductees
A link has been posted to your Facebook feed. The Strong National Museum of Play announced the 2019 inductees to the World Video Game Hall of Fame on Thursday and added four new games to its roster. Established in 2015, the World Video Game Hall of Fame honors all kinds of electric games – computer, handheld, console, arcade and mobile – and has recognized 24 games since its founding. Criteria for inductees examines four categories: the game's icon status (is it widely recognized?), longevity (is it more than a passing fad?), geographical reach (are people playing it all over the world?) and influence (has the game affected the industry as a whole, popular culture or society in general?). And the 2019 inductees are... (drumroll, please!) "Microsoft Solitaire" debuted in 1990 on the Windows 3.0 computing platform and became ubiquitous around the world, according to a news release from The Strong Museum.

The 2018 inductees into the Video Game Hall of Fame have been decided. As of May 3rd Spacewar!, John Madden Football, Tomb Raider, and Final Fantasy 7 have joined the hall of fame. Each game had its own unique reason for being on the list of finalists but they have all made their impact on video game history. One changed the way we look at sports-themed games, another changed the way we look at female characters, another gave us a villain that will never be forgotten, and one may have kick-started the entire industry. Each one of these games deserves their place in the hall of fame but there are many more out there that deserve it as well. As it turns out you can help decide what games get inducted next year.

Google's offering voice assistants to your next DIY computing project, we review the new BlackBerry phone (yes, it is 2017), and test-ride an electric dirt bike. Raspberry Pi has teamed up with Google to bring voice integration to the Pi with a clever combination of hardware and software. Packed with the same tech that powers Google Home, the companies have released a kit that transforms a regular Raspberry Pi 3 into your very own virtual assistant. The collaboration marks the first time that Google has produced something for hobbyists. The initiative is called "Artificial Intelligence Yourself" (AIY), and Google's project director said that he wants to create more hobbyist uses for Google software.

The Video Game Hall of Fame basically inducted your childhood this year
The National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York announced the four titles it's inducting into the World Video Game Hall of Fame this year, and they're all pinnacles in the industry: Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokémon Red and Blue and Street Fighter II. But if you think they were all shoe-ins compared to the competition, prepare to get your nerd hackles raised. The games that didn't make the cut this year include Final Fantasy VII, Myst, Portal, Resident Evil and Microsoft Windows Solitaire. Which doesn't mean they won't make it in later: immortal classics Sonic the Hedgehog and The Legend of Zelda were passed over in the Hall of Fame's inaugural set in 2015, but then were inducted the next year. The latest collection spanned 30 years between the releases of Donkey Kong in 1981 and Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, following the Hall of Fame's tradition to include games that "enjoyed popularity over a sustained period and have exerted influence on the video game industry or on popular culture and society in general." Q*bert fans, you might have to wait before more deserving games get welcomed in, but hey -- don't let us tell you what to nominate.

The video game hall of famers
The road from Space Invaders to Grand Theft Auto III is a long and winding one, but this week both were inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame. They join last year's crop – Pong, Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Doom, World of Warcraft and Tetris – along with four other new inductees. The history of those games is also the history of how we play them. Pac-Man, for example, was first released in the arcades in 1980. It went from PCs to Game Boys to consoles.
